46 Fascinating Facts About Me – Part 5

belindacake30) I like to stay up late and sleep in. I’m a night owl. I believe that everything good in life happens after 3pm. My Mom and my Grandma were the same way. I used to think it was cool that we all had this same trait until I realized we all probably had Hashimoto’s Disease.

31) I love Scandal.

32) The number one thing on my bucket list is to meet The Go Go’s. I came close once but got sidetracked by an open bar and completely missed my opportunity while I was getting a free beer. The potential meeting took place on Belinda Carlisle’s birthday and I got a picture of her half eaten birthday cake to prove I was there. BTW- If someone out there can help me meet The Go Go’s, I’d be eternally grateful if you’d hook me up.

33) I was in Brownies and Girl Scouts (que the lesbian jokes in 3, 2, 1…) I loved it and have such fond memories of both. Through the beauty of Facebook, I am still in contact with many of the girls on my troop. My Mom used to chaperone all of our camping trips and stay up late with the other mom’s drinking wine and smoking cigarettes by the fire pit. I used to think that was so stupid until I became a mom and realized she just did it to survive. Chaperoning is no joke and there really isn’t enough wine on the planet to make it bearable.

34) I was going to be a surrogate to one of my really good friends who was having difficulty getting pregnant. Her and her husband tried everything and spent  thousands of dollars on just about every fetility treatment imaginable and didn’t have any luck. Then she went and got knocked up with triplets. My womb was no longer needed.

35) I got involved in PTA so I could 1) meet people after giving up my corporate life/ job and 2) give people a chance to meet “me” before they got hung up on the gay mom thing.

36) I love having my feet rubbed/massaged/tickled. I’ve loved  it since I was a baby. My Mom said she used to tickle my feet while she was pregnant with me to calm me down. I can remember laying on the floor and shoving my feet in our guests faces. I’m shameless about getting my feet rubbed and I have been known, on occasion, to pay my kids to do this for me.

37) I’ve written a few blogs but I Eat Pop Tarts The Original was my first and the one I was most personally attached to. When I had a chance to re-create my new place I Eat Pop Tarts The Second was the obvious choice. I’ve had a couple opportunities to go elsewhere but I really like this space and feel comfortable enough with you all to share open and honestly. So I guess you are stuck with me.

38) Everyone on my moms side of the family is very tall. Like 6 foot plus kind of tall. I am only 5-1. Somehow I got the short end of the stick. Pun intended. I look much more like my Dads side of the family. In fact, people say that my cousin looks more like my sister than my sister.

39) I’m named after my two Aunts. My Mom’s sister, Sandra and my Dad’s sister Jeanne. Hence the name, Sandra Jeanne. PS: That hence was for you Bev.

a1074957105_50155_8540) I love music. It speaks to me. I don’t really have a preference or favorite genre, what I listen to depends on my mood. While I am passionate about 80’s music, I also love Country (Brandy Clark is a favorite right now and if you don’t have her new album then you should be shot. IT’S THAT GOOD!)

The more I read about Thyroid and Hasimoto’s it makes me realize how many people must be undiagnosed with the latter. Thanks for sharing your story!

Karen- Right? It’s so true about Hashimoto’s. The sad thing is it can be diagnosed with a simple but not commonly utilized blood test. I look back on my situation and so many of my trips to the Doctor could have been avoided had I known and been able to treat my Hashimoto’s disease years ago.
