Def Leppard – Saving the Best for Last

in Concerts

IMG_4946You know that saying “sometimes your the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug?” That totally happened to me on Saturday night at the Def Leppard concert, but instead of being the windshield or the bug I was just pretty effing lucky.

Now that I look at it that quote isn’t really applicable for this post at all.

So The Bestie and I headed to Agua Caliente Casino in Palm Desert, CA to see Def Leppard.  Our seats were good, not as good as our 5th row center stage seats from this summer, but they were still on the awesome side of sweet seats. The evening started with an abundance of cocktails and getting a autographed guitar pick from Phil Collen’s guitar man in the elevator.

FYI- Whenever you run into the main guitar guy in the elevator that normally is indicative of good things to come.

IMG_5339After the bar, the elevator and the guitar picks, we head to the concert arena making sure to get there early after the Las Vegas Ded Flatbird fiasco when we were really drunk and showed up late to the show because we actually thought Ded Flatbird was a cover band with a drummer with one arm (because didn’t everybody?) Anyway we didn’t want to be late and we wanted a picture up front so at least we could say we were there for a brief moment.

Fast forward 20 minutes and another round of drinks and somehow we were still there, in the front row, when the show started. And when I say right there, I mean right there. Def Leppard. THE Def Leppard was just inches away and singing their brains out for me, us, okay…all of Palm Desert, and it was AWESOME!

We met an amazing group of veteran front row gals who knew how to do it in style and kept us from looking too nutso-crazy-star-struck while we were be-bopping with the elite. And that drink I’m drinking? It was sipped on by  FullSizeRenderJOE ELLIOTT! So his DNA and mine mingled, which means I could possibly be pregnant with his love child (who I would totally name JOE ELLIOTT II whether it was a boy or a girl or a future rock star.)

And then the roadie gave Margie the set list which made the night even better! Afterwards we went to the bar where we got the night started to re-live our glorious evening and the stage crew showed up. Because of course they did because it was just that kind of night!

Awesome. Really, there isn’t another word to describe it.

Wait….Joe Elliott sipped your drink? Or you stole his?. F’-in cool either way, I just need clarification so I can live vicariously through you. FYI, we are going to see Judas Priest on Monday and Fleetwood Mac at the end of the month! Rock on!
