It seems like just yesterday that it was 2014.

January 21, 2015

in Family, Holidays

DixieI made a New Years resolution to post on my blog twice a week and now it’s January 19th and I’m just now getting around to writing my first post of 2015.

I obviously suck at resolutions.

In a nutshell our holidays were busy, we celebrated some big family milestones and then we all got that horrible cold that has been going around.

In December we celebrated our ten year adoption anniversary. Most people celebrate birthdays as the day they met their kids and became their parent, but our family history is different. Celebrating adoptions is like having an extra birthday combined with a wedding anniversary. It’s a weird day, but one filled with significance so you gotta do something special and you know me, I’m never one to turn down a excuse to have a party!

Right before Christmas, Cheryl and I celebrated our 20th anniversary. Just like our adoption anniversary, the origins of why this date is considered our anniversary is sketchy. At that time we weren’t able to get engaged or get married so we picked the day of our fist date as our “anniversary.” We celebrated this day for many years until we had an actually commitment ceremony and then we celebrated that date until we actually got married. If you are counting that makes three anniversary dates. Thanks to new laws, open minded voters and equality prevailing, we keep changing our dates. On the bright side, if one of us forgets our anniversary all we need to say is that we thought it was one of the other dates and you are off the hook!

Cheryl’s birthday was a few days after the new year so again, another celebration! I took her to a nice romantic dinner and to a play. The thing is, it wasn’t a real play. It was a Tupperware party camouflaged as a play. Dixie’s Tupperware Party is a hoot and a half. And by hoot and a half I mean it is raunchy and littered with f-bombs.

And to make it all the more fun and memorable I got us tickets on the stage. We were actually a part of the show! Cheryl was mortified to the brink of divorcing, me but I loved every minute of it! If you haven’t gone to see this show, GO! And don’t forget to buy some Tupperware!

That’s it in a nutshell. Life has been bust and we are slowly getting back in the swing of things.

2015 is going to be an unusually difficult year for us as a family. Lot’s of changes and uncertainty, but I’m hopeful even though we don’t have a plan yet we will have one soon enough!

Have a great year y’all!
