P!NK

pinkI’m going to be the first to admit that I go to a lot of concerts.

A LOT.

I can’t help it. Going to concerts is my thing.

I can remember my first concert in 1979. I saw The Bee Gee’s (don’t judge, they were cool back then!) and I have been hooked on live music ever since. I’m not particular about who or what I see, as long as it’s a band I like. I’m as up for a good cover band as I am a full on stadium concert. But, I do have a list of concerts I want to see before I die. I guess you can call it my Bucket List o’ Bands. Whenever one of them comes my way I make sure I get a ticket so I can check them off my list.

P!NK was #1 on that list.

I have been DYING to see her for years. Last time she came around I was layed up post surgery in my sick-bed and couldn’t go. So, when tickets went on sale this time I jumped at the chance to get them.

Except it wasn’t so easy.

I went on pre-sale after pre-sale and came up empty. By the time tickets went on sale to the general public, the show was sold out and the only tickets left were from a broker at double face value.

I didn’t care.

The seats weren’t great and the venue is not my favorite place to see a concert, but we were there and that is all that matters!

I would like to write a full review of the concert but I just can’t find the words.

Simply put, she was amazing.

It was a big show, lot’s of showy flashy stuff (that I won’t mention because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who gets a chance to see her on this tour) but even with all the fluff, she was still personable and carried on personal conversations like there was only 20 of us in the audience instead of 20,000.She took big songs and sung them acoustically with a surprisingly tender touch, said the F word a couple of times and danced her ass off.

It was everything I had hoped for and a little more.

Beyond the show and the music was this person that everyone feels they can relate to a little bit. I think that is a big part of her popularity. She’s a big star but you would never know it. She doesn’t hide her struggles or camouflage her flaws. She just puts it out there and says “love it or leave it.” Some people don’t like that about her, but I find it a strong attribute. I don’t have a daughter, but if I did I’d be hard pressed to not hope that she would end up with a little bit of the P!NK personality in her.

Rock on P!NK, rock on!
