The Today Show LIVE!

in Cool Things, Social Media, Twitter

hodapicMonday morning (I guess it was still morning even though people are going to bed at 2am so it should be considered night time, but I don’t write the clock rules so I have to say morning) Margie and I made our way to Hollywood to see a live taping of The Today Show on The Voice stage.

We have seen a taping of The Today Show before because I guess it’s fair to say we somewhat stalk Hoda Kotb.

But she doesn’t know, so please keep it on the DL.

And I like The Voice so it was a double whammy of excitement.

We headed out to Universal City at 3am. Of course we stopped at Starbucks on the way because it is open 24 hours. And thank god it was because I’m not sure I could have made it through the day without Starbucks. And then we stood in three lines because if you have ever been to a taping of any show you know they thrive on lines. And then we got to take the Universal Studios Tram ride with a very chipper tour guide who wanted us all to sing Mama Mia at 4am (and I did, because when someone says sing Mama Mia, you do it. No questions asked.)

The Voice stage looks nothing like it does on TV, it is completely backward to what you think it looks like. And yes, Hoda and Billy Bush (because KLG was sick) got to sit in the chairs and hit the buttons but it was a little anticlimactic because 1) they didn’t warn us they were going to flip the chairs so we could cheer and 2) they didn’t light up with that cool sound effect like they do on TV when they would turn their chairs for a singer.

The show taped without too much drama. We got the see the cast from CRISIS, David Walton from About a Boy and Candy Spelling who talked about sex and buying condoms and it made me realize I really don’t want to talk about those things with anyone especially Candy Spelling…

Before you know it the show was a wrap and we were back on the road for before breakfast time.

The stage was pretty dark and the audience was pretty far back from where they sat for the interviews but even with he odds against us we ended up getting a screen shot!
